A Reel Life Fly Fishing Adventure

Urban Angler

Montauk charter captain and striper guide Paul Dixon wanted a BIG trevally on the fly. So on an Urban Angler Explorer Trip to remote Cosmoledo in the Seychelles he parked himself on the edge of a flat and waited, passing up endless shots at fish 10- to 30-lbs.

Finally after about a half-an-hour a huge, dark shadow appeared and Paul figured "maybe that one is big enough." He made a cast with his 11-wt. and a floating popper, and all hell broke loose. Forty minutes later both Paul and the trevally were exhausted but they still had fifty feet between them and no energy to bridge the gap.

That's when fellow Long Island Guide Amanda Switzer came to the rescue by swimming out to the 50-lb fish, grabbing it by the tail and wrestling it back to Paul for the photo opportunity.

You go girl!
